Methodology
Data Source
All 120 cortical targets are extracted from two peer-reviewed open-access publications: (1) Wu Y, Kong Q, Li Y, et al. Chin Med. 2025;20:58 (PMID:40329319) — 58 targets across 10 neurological conditions. (2) Li et al. Alpha Psychiatry. 2026;27(3):45940 (DOI:10.31083/AP45940) — 62 targets across 9 psychiatric conditions. The platform contains no unpublished findings beyond these two articles. The meta-analyses used the Neurosynth / Neurosynth Compose platform.
Limitations
(1) Targets derive from meta-analytic literature and may evolve. (2) Scalp projection cannot reach deep brain structures directly. (3) Stimulation parameters (intensity, frequency, duration) are NOT specified by this tool — they remain the clinician's judgment. (4) Individual patient response is not predicted. (5) AI explanations are bounded to retrieved text from the source papers and target database.
Safety boundaries
- No treatment recommendations
- No individual prediction
- No stimulation parameters
- No crisis engagement (direct hotline redirect)
- No at-home guidance for parents administering to children
- No PII/PHI collection
- No content fabricated beyond retrieved context
Relation to BrainGPS AI
This tool is a reference implementation and visualization engine for the BrainGPS AI research direction: it renders published cortical-target catalogs and their literature sources as a browser-based point-reference view for acupuncturists and researchers. It is a reference & navigation tool — it does not diagnose, does not replace clinical judgment, and does not decide treatment on its own.
Ecosystem Provenance
Part of the LIGHT HOPE ecosystem. The platform contains no unpublished findings beyond the two published articles.
